My mom, Miles and I attended a friends daughters wedding yesterday. Fruit, cheese & beverages (tea, punch & water with sliced limes and lemons) were served at 6:30, the ceremony started at 8:00, followed by the reception. We left around 10pm and things were still going. It was a beautiful wedding. Simple yet very nice (and definitely out of our price range!)
Anyway, it was gorgeous! The aisle was lined with shephards shafts/hooks with glass lanterns on the end filled with 1/2 and inch of white sand on the bottom and a white candle in the middle. The groomsmen walked down the aisle to Sweet Home Alabama, the bridesmaids had their own song and then the Bride had her own song. I don't remember their songs, Sweet Home Alabama just stuck out to me because I thought it was cool. A refreshing change.
For the decoratings, they had tables with white table cloths and hot pink runners (2, crossing each other making a "t" shape), floral centerpieces, votive candles wrapped with wire and hung in the trees, moroccan lanterns, 2 chandelieres, a few white lights (not sure what they are called but they were round, white and kind of like a pipe...). They also had a few barrels of hay with blankets on them and a few pillows. There were white roman columns connected to each other through rice lantern lights. The wedding colors were orange and pink though there were other colors spotted randomly throughout (like the blankets on the hay barrels and the pillows). The decor was GORGEOUS!
Oh, and they also had huge industrial sized fans to cool everyone off since it was outside.
The food was delish! TENDER smoked chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies and dinner rolls.
Before dinner, while we were sitting at our tables waiting for the food, servers came out with plywood platters cut into the size of square cutting boards, topped with cubes and slices of cheese as well as fruit and a few mint sprigs.
There was a full bar, I tried to drink wine since I am still nursing Miles and can't drink alcohol. I took one sip and couldn't handle it (I'm not much of a wine drinker).
After dinner was over, the bridesmaids walked around with trays filled with popsicles, fudgesicles and ice cream sandwiches. Yum!
They then cut the cake. The brides cake was white cake with elite (I'm thinking elite because it didn't taste like buttercream, you could definitely tell from the texture and taste that it was mainly sugar). The icing was pink and the decorating were white/cream, made out of icing. The grooms cake was chocolate, though I am not sure on what kind of frosting because I didn't try it.
After cake, they started the music. The first dance was of course the bride and groom dance, they danced to "Blessed the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts".
They had a DJ and I think, after I left, they had a band play because the equipment was out there but I didn't see a band.
Out of that whole thing, although I wouldn't mind having her entire wedding, I don't believe in photocopying weddings(my translation: copying something exactly, or a very strong resemblence). I do want to incorporate the cutting boards used to serve cheese and fruit as well as the trays serving ice cream & popsicles. CUTE!
Our wedding colors are different though and I think, compared to their wedding, our will be more on the southern charm side and not the moroccan (though, trust me, I LOVED it!!!)
